-A message sent on behalf of Christie Dieringer – Brat Fry Coordinator:
The 2019 4-H Brat Fry at the Port Washington Farmers Market sign-up in now up and running. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054badad2da4fe3-port1 4-H Clubs, 4-H groups, and individual families are welcome to sign-up to staff the stand. The Farmers Market is every Saturday from 8am-12:30pm from the first Saturday in June through the last Saturday in October. There is no Farmers Market on Fish Day, which is July 20 this year. The stand is on the southwest corner of Franklin and Main Street. This event is a great opportunity for your club or group or families to earn some 4-H funds. Bernie’s Fine Meats supplies the brats, burgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, and buns. They will also store the coolers, grill, grilling utensils and signs, tables and pop up tent. Christie Dieringer will replenish the condiments which will also be stored at Bernie’s. Your group should stop by Bernie’s at 7:45 am to pick up the items, and return them after the event. The assigned group representative can stop at the Extension Office on Thursday or Friday to pick up the money box with change. After the event, the cash box needs to be dropped off at the Extension Office on Monday or Tuesday. You would need to supply a Nesco or way to keep the meat hot, and a 50’ extension cord. Typically it takes 1-2 adults and 2-4 youth volunteers running the brat fry each week. Deposits each week will go into the Leaders Association account. At the end of the season, Bernie’s will be paid and the profit will be divided by the participating club/groups. This way all groups will earn the same amount whether they had a yucky, rainy, cold day; or very busy, sun shining beautiful day.
-County Fair is July 31-August 4! Each 4-Her must volunteer to work two time periods. Sign up was available May 16th. Fair entries are due July 1 but the Premium Book is now available! There is a lot of fair news in the Harbinger.
-A mailer went out to all 1st year youth with an invite to the New Family Fair Preview Night on June 11.
-If anyone ordered a t-shirt, please see Brenda!
-We are looking forward to State Fair! If you are looking for information about Variety Show acts or working at State Fair see the link to Youth Expo info: https://wistatefair.com/competitions/youth-expo/ or the link to Junior Livestock info: https://wistatefair.com/competitions/junior-livestock/. The only state fair activities that will run through the Extension office are the project exhibits that were selected at last year’s county fair. We do not have that information yet, but will contact families of youth selected to exhibit when the information is available.
-More from State Fair’s new Youth Activities Coordinator, Liz Dworak: Currently, the youth paperwork for the Clothing Revue, Performance and Activity Stations can be found here: https://wistatefair.com/competitions/youth-expo/.
